Here's some of my work stuff so far.  Yes, you're probably tired of my Star Wars drawings.  TOO BAD!  MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Behance Portfolio

I started a portfolio on Behance!  Check me out!

http://www.behance.net/edelet/frame

I also reconnected with an old client and will be doing more illustration jobs (say whaaaa!), so I'm gonna be busy working on that.  I'll be posting the stuff I draw as I progress.  Check out the website:  http://www.eraofrebellion.com/

Somewhat justified hiatus

So.  The USB ports on my laptop have been malfunctioning lately.  That means my laptop doesn't recognize my tablet or the scanner, so I have no way to post artwork until I get this all figured out.  Frustrating!  :(  I have been sketching, but alas, the drawings will sit all lonely like in my sketchbook until further notice.

Shepard

Here's my version of Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series. I may color it. Or not. Can't wait til ME3!!!

Happy Father's Day

Mufasa from the Lion King. I don't draw animals often, so I think he turned out looking a little Garfield-ish. Teehee...

Brown brush pen on paper, scanned on my super ancient scanner, Ol' Reliable.

Grant in the Hundred Acre Wood

An early Father's Day present for my hubby. I *was* going to sneak grown-up Grant into the Hundred Acre Wood, but I decided to follow Disney rules and make him a kid after all.

He turned out as a kind of combination Peter Pan/Christopher Robin/Wart (Sword in the Stone), I think. Grant would definitely hang out with Tigger and Roo and cause mischief.

BUT!!!

...Wanna know what Grant REALLY looked like as a kid?

At least I didn't draw pirate Grant with the eyepatch. ;*

Love you, babe.

Technical difficulties

My internet was out for a week. To quote a friend, "No internet days were the new rainy days." So true. So here's what I worked on while I was digitally disconnected. I know this is a sketch blog, but I had to reassure my NUMEROUS visitors that during my digital hiatus what I've been working on IS artistic, albeit in a different way. Clothes for mah baby girl!

I am 16 going on 17...

Just posting an oldie today. Veeeerrrrrry ooooold. 2003, to be exact. I was 16... the good ol days. I don't know if anybody remembers Jet Set Radio Future for the Xbox. Such a great game! It's about teenagers on skates who vandalize public property with graffiti. Uhh, wait... maybe it doesn't sound so wholesome... but it actually is!

Bluto

I've been out of town for a bit, but now I'm back!

Here's the old school villain you love to hate, Bluto! I may color it sometime.

Invisible woman

Susan Storm Richards from the Fantastic Four. Quick 30 minute sketch. It's not great, but it's not terrible.

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Young Ezio

Here's young Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2, which I just started playing (yes, he does have a scar on his lip). Just a quick, 20-30 minute sketch. I'm going to try to do shorter sketches again because I've been going way overboard lately (THANKS, GEORGE COSTANZA).   I may even use a timer to enforce it.

WORK IT! WORK IT!

"LOVER BOY! YOU ARE A LOVER BOY!!!"

George Costanza from Seinfeld. I had way too much fun with this.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I will never be good at realistic painting (even digitally), so this is as good as a quickie will get for me. Don't hate.

Hiatus

Here's a sketch I feel pretty "meh" about, but at least it's something.

Think Pink!

Wonder Woman supports the fight for breast cancer and has switched outfits for the occasion. To the comic book purists... don't shoot me! Think pink!

  • About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • In 2010, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.
  • A woman’s risk of breast cancer approximately doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. About 20-30% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have a family history of breast cancer.
  • About 70-80% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic abnormalities that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.

Kim and Aggie

I absolutely love watching "How Clean Is Your House." There's something oddly pleasing and therapeutic in watching two British ladies scold people for having messy homes. I guess it's because I know that no matter how messy my apartment may look at times, it's not as bad as the houses on the show.

Moi the Riveter

I needed a morale boost so I did a self portrait of sorts. GIRL POWA!!! Mind you, it doesn't look very much like me, but at least I tried to include my round nose.

...Is Cool But Crude

One of my absolute favorite shows when i was a kid. I may or may not do all 4 turtles... we'll see.

I hope it looks like he's doing a flying attack of some sort. Grant just thought he was being all gangsta. Wahh.

Raphael - WIP

Raphael the ninja turtle about to strike. Such a great show... although I'm more partial to Leo. Will color later. Drawn digitally with a tablet.

Night Elf - In Progress

Yes. I know. Guilty as charged. World of Warcraft has forever tainted my past. Don't judge. Or do, if it amuses you. It seems like such a long time ago... You know, pre-baby, when everything was different.

This was my priest Tarantella (a.k.a. HEALPLZ). The cool thing about being a healer is... everyone needs healing. So you're almost like a household appliance. Or deodorant. You don't really think about it until you really need it. And if you don't have it nearby you freak out and break out into a sweat. Buh-dun-DUN!

It's-a Me!

I did draw something for today but it turned out awful and I'm too embarrassed to post it. So instead, I'm posting an oldie from 2007.

Epic DBZ Battle

I love requests because it means people actually visit this blog. Two people requested I draw Vegeta, but I couldn't resist adding Goku. Shenanigans ensue. Obviously.

Epic thumb wrestling FTW.

My Backpack's Got Jets!

I missed a day yesterday! Oh, well. I decided I'd rather get more sleep rather than stress about it. A good decision, if I do say so myself. In any case, here's the finished shaded version of the colored drawing. I probably won't add a background. Sadly, they're not my thing. Mostly because I stink at them. The original drawing is a lot bigger and more detailed. A lot of that was lost with the shrinkage. Mehhh... probably a good thing.

The Impossible Duel - colored WIP

Not quite done yet, but at least the base colors are down. I'm not great at coloring/shading, so we'll see what tomorrow's version will look like.

The Impossible Duel

So Grant had a dream the other night. A Star Wars-related dream. While this in itself is not unusual, part of it involved a lightsaber duel between two VERY unlikely characters. There are two reasons why this duel would never occur. Reason number one being that Boba Fett and Padme Amidala are not Jedi. Reason number two being that, well... by the time Boba is old enough to become a bounty hunter Padme has been long since dead. Still a cool dream though. I may color it sometime.

In the Meantime

I'm in the process of drawing a more involved sketch, so it won't be posted today as it is not finished. Instead, here's an older sketch with characters from X-Men Evolution.

Old Stuff

I'm posting some older stuff today. The Yoda scan turned out really dark, but I didn't feel like fixing it. Maybe I'll rescan it someday.

Demona Colored

Demona was such a great villain. But there was always that part of you that secretly wished she'd join the good guys.

Gargoyles

It's technically past midnight, but baby went to sleep late today so it counts. Here's Demona from Disney's Gargoyles. Such a great show. Ah, memories. I may clean it up and color it later.

Legit Prince

Today I decided to color yesterday's lines on the computer. I also cleaned up the edges of the picture since the scanner darkened them a little.

Monday, April 4, 2011

Why, it's my dream prince!

I love the part in Sleeping Beauty when Briar Rose dances with her "Prince." Pen on paper.

"OPEN THE DOOR IRENE!!!"

Soames Forsyte as played by Damien Lewis. He has a weird scrunchy angry face. We crack up every time. Dedicated to my sister-in-law.

"YOU ARE MY WIFE!!"
"You're so cold! Made of stone! Always made of stone!"
"You'll marry him over my dead body, you hear? OVER MY DEAD BODY!!"

Cloud person!!!

Back by popular demand, the dude with the spiky hair and the big sword! Cloud is the protagonist of the legendary video game, Final Fantasy VII. It's been years since I drew him! Used references for the pose and outfit.

Little Mermaid

So we've been watching a lot of Jane Austen movies lately. Like, A LOT. And no, I don't *make* Grant watch them with me; he is a willing participant. He's the romantic sort. So today's sketch celebrates mushy love stories.

I used a movie screenshot as a reference. It's not perfect, but you can tell who they are, and that's enough for me.

Paper and art pen

Flowers

Not pleased with this one but it's the sketch of the day, so I'm posting it anyway. Pastels are not my forte and the scanner mushed up the colors. Be warned.

Jaydin Kitty

Once upon a time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I was in high school. On occasion, classes were, well... boring. To keep ourselves awake, kitty sketches were born. My friend Ashley would whisper ideas or pass notes to me and I would keep myself busy drawing kitties on paper margins. It got to the point where we started drawing kitties from various literary works we were studying at the time. Ah, the good ol' days.

This kitty is dedicated to Ashley's adorable daughter Jaydin. Here's to you!

Day Two

Here is today's quick sketch, plus another digitally drawn oldie I found in my laptop.
